The dark clouds of the pandemic might have been looming over many people, but definitely not for Elon Musk. Tesla’s co-founder marks a milestone as he is now the world’s second-richest person.
Amazon’s Jeff Bezos still holds the first position, according to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index. The survey keeps a tab on the wealth of the 500 richest people on earth.
Musk’s net worth has gone up by $7.2 billion, and the co-founder of SpaceX estimates $128 billion on Monday. The shares of Tesla have been escalating since the news of the e-car company is going to be added to the S&P 500 index.
In 2020, his net worth surged by $100.3 billion and then the man himself was in 35th position. Last week, Musk left Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg behind as he acquired third place.
Microsoft Billionaire Bill Gates comes down to third place, and it has only happened two times in 8 years. Gates’ net worth would be much higher only if it did not give it all to the philanthropic causes. Bezos still remains ahead of Musk, and he has been retaining the same position since 2017.
Amid the global pandemic, American billionaires have crossed the $1 trillion mark. Chuck Collins said, “The increases in billionaire wealth continue to defy gravity in the real economy where millions have lost their jobs, health and livelihoods.”
Now, all eyes are on whether Musk continues enormous growth and surpasses Bezos for the first position.
