Toronto Raptors stays to fight another day in the NBA bubble. Fans are calling the double-overtime a classic thriller as the defending champions managed to keep their cool and give the Boston Celtics a taste of defeat.
“I think everyone came into this series expecting a long series”, commented the Raptors’ guard, Fred VanVleet, tonight.
“Long game, longer than we all would have asked for, but time to get some rest and go back at it again.”
But Powell could have finished off the match as the first overtime was approaching. He failed to hit a long 3-point. However, his fierce comeback in the second overtime brought victory, and VanVleet put it as “his trademark now”.
It has been an “intense series” according to Jaylen Brown, but the Celtics star also assured there is “nothing to worry about”.
“You gotta be ready to fight. That’s a respectable organization, so I expect them to act orderly. Things seemed to get out of hand at times. Let’s keep it under control, let’s keep playing basketball.”
At the end of Game 6, both teams were on the verge of breaking into a fight. Marcus Smart and Fred VanVleet engaged in a heated argument, soon after other staff and players rushed in.
Celtics indeed suffered from poor shooting, and the ever-reliable Kemba Walker was a major disappointment. They were only fractions of seconds away from hitting 3-0. Can they overcome this embarrassment and avert their exit? Game 7 is sure going to be fun.
