Coronavirus News around the World: UK Prime Minister is in Self-Isolation

British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, is entering self-isolation after having made contact with a COVID-19 patient. His spokesperson has informed the press that he would continue “working from Downing Street.”

Although the prime minister does not show any “symptoms of COVID-19,” the global cases of coronavirus touch the mark of 52 million.

The US remains the worst-hit country due to the highest number of cases. Michigan Governor has advised stopping in-person classes and indoor dining spaces. Gretchen Whitmer says, “The situation has never been more dire.”

Last week, California and Texas also suffered from a devastating transmission as each state registered more than 1 million confirmed cases.

On Monday, schools will open in New York depending on the 7-day test positivity rate. The mayor shared a tweet, “Thankfully, schools will remain open on Monday, but we have to keep fighting back with everything we’ve got.”

The death toll goes up in the US – 245,000 people have died since the beginning of the pandemic. 335 deaths are reported in the US till the afternoon.

On the other side of the world, the Chinese mainland did not find any locally transmitted cases on Sunday. Australia has done a marvelous job in flattening the curve of transmission – only single-digit figures are visible. Only an outbreak in South Australia has taken the number to 17 cases.

The Czech Republic reports a decline in daily cases, and the number has gone down by 3,500 from last Sunday. Since the widespread coronavirus, the country has confirmed 458,229 cases.
